This year's theme was the celebration of our inner child, pre alcohol, pre randiness, pre other self-inflicted adult vices. In an effort to not duplicate the usual over imbibing of the alcoholic nature, I rented a school bus and got passes for a bunch of friends to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. I have to say, I think it was one of the most successful outings ever, and worth the half dozen white hairs I had to pluck from my head afterwards.
Ok you senile sentiMENTAL old woman, skip the rhetoric and show me the pics!!
We met at 8:30 am at McDonalds, loaded onto the bus, and were on the road by 9:15. We arrived around 10:30, and holy cow, did we luck out on the weather. Low 80's perfectly sunny, and as you'll see in the pics, a few of us got some color. Some more than others. Well, one more than others. And as a special birthday treat my brother Matt visited for the long weekend so was able to join in as well.
Due to impeccible timing, and despite the large crew sticking together the entire day, we managed to ride all the major coasters except Nitro, but had our faces contorted on Superman, Batman, Scream Machine, Medusa, and Runwaway Train. Another cool ride was Free Fall, where it drops you from waaaay up there in a few seconds flat. John showed us the cool trick for that ride, placing a penny on your knee and watching it float as we fell. Another highlight was monopolizing the bumper cars, just our group, where they proceeded to pick on the birthday girl, her car was of course, not working. So I sat there cornered and sulked while being rammed by every car possible. Then the lads decided to have an impromptu strong man competition, winning a huge bouquet of flower prizes, worth about 1/1000th of the money spent each turn. Sadly, the water rides were closed, stupid decision on the parks part considering it was the nicest weekend all summer.
So, we left the park around 5, where almost everyone fell immediately asleep. Blame the early wake up call, the relentless sun or the carb coma, even the bus's non-existent suspension couldn't rouse most of the passengers. Finally, the driver dropped the usuals off at Jakes, where we spent a quiet evening playing Screw Thy Neighbor and more Blind Man's Bluff. And believe it or not we left a few hours later pretty sober and NO shots!
Well, I won't bore you with more details, I know you are more interested in the pictures, so here they are. Just a quick thanks to Fernando for helping me organize, Carlitos and Kelvin for the javascript code, and everyone who showed up. My inner child is still grinnin like an idiot.
